Set of Four DCW Dining Chairs in Walnut by Charles & Ray Eames for Herman Miller, USA

Set of four iconic DCW (Dining Chair Wood) chairs designed by Charles and Ray Eames and produced by Herman Miller in the United States.

Introduced as part of the groundbreaking plywood furniture experiments developed by the Eames Office during the 1940s, the DCW remains one of the most influential chair designs of the twentieth century. The model combines ergonomic comfort with sculptural elegance through the use of moulded plywood technology, creating a chair that appears both light and architectural.

This set is executed in walnut veneer with beautifully figured grain patterns and warm, richly toned surfaces. The chairs retain the characteristic moulded plywood seat, backrest and legs that have made the DCW a design icon for more than seven decades.

These examples belong to the desirable second generation produced 1950-1953, identifiable by the 5-2-4 screw arrangement used on the seat and backrest connections. The chairs have been professionally restored and present exceptionally well, with the walnut veneer displaying a deep and vibrant appearance.

The original Herman Miller labels are no longer present following restoration.

An increasingly difficult set to find, particularly in matching walnut and in such attractive presentation.
