Eames RKR-1 Wire Mesh Rocking chair with its original leather cover.

The RKR was introduced by Herman Miller in 1951. From 1957 on, Herman Miller replaced the hemp backing on their wire chair pads with Naugahyde (artificial leather), so this chair has been produced between 1951 and 1956. 

Meaning: RKR-1 = Rocking (R), K-Wire (K), on Rod (R) Base chair with 1 piece cover (1). 

Signed with paper manufacturer's label to underside: Herman Miller Inc Venice California.

Original leather cover with a terrible patina. The foam under the leather has hardened and is crunchy.

Original Rocking base. Metal structure in original black finish, no repairs, original screws, untouched. Original runners in patinated birch wood.
