Pair of Art Deco Armchairs by Fernand Chambon | Hôtel Métropole Brussels (1930s)

Regular price €1.200

Rare pair of original Art Deco armchairs designed in the 1930s–1940s by Fernand Chambon (1876–1944) for the legendary Hôtel Métropole in Brussels. These armchairs originate from the hotel’s Art Deco Suites, a refined example of early 20th-century hotel interior design.

Most of the original furniture from the Hôtel Métropole has been officially classified, and a planned auction was cancelled at the last minute; as a result, only a very small number of original pieces ever reached the market.

Fernand Chambon, a key figure in Belgian Art Deco, designed these armchairs as part of a complete furniture program for the Hôtel Métropole, which included dressing tables, writing desks, chairs, beds, and bedside tables.

The armchairs are crafted in maple wood, with black-lacquered armrests and feet. They feature an adjustable reclining mechanism, where the seat slides forward and the backrest tilts, known as the Knoll Antimott D.R.P. system, a sophisticated innovation for its time.

Belgian manufacture, produced exclusively for the Hôtel Métropole, Brussels.
Offered in original condition, showing authentic period wear. Restoration is required, allowing for preservation or customization according to the collector’s preference.
