Early Cassina LC4 Chaise Longue by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret & Charlotte Perriand, 1970s
The LC4 Chaise Longue is one of the most celebrated designs of the twentieth century. Created in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, it remains a benchmark of modernist furniture design and an icon of functional elegance.
This authentic Cassina example dates from the 1970s and bears the engraved Cassina signature together with serial number 3075. It retains several characteristics associated with early productions, including the original rubber suspension system supporting the upholstered surface.
The chaise longue features its original black pony hide upholstery, now beautifully patinated through decades of use. The natural wear of the hide creates a unique visual texture and depth that cannot be replicated, giving the piece an exceptional presence and authenticity. The upholstery has been carefully restored with new internal foam and new leather piping while preserving the original material.
The chrome-plated steel frame remains structurally sound and displays age-related scratches consistent with use. The original black steel base shows patina and wear, while the rubber support tubes exhibit minor damage that can easily be concealed by rotating them.
An increasingly sought-after early Cassina production of one of the most important furniture designs of the modern movement.
