Charles & Ray Eames DAX Chair Fiberglass on X-base, Herman Miller, 1950-60s
Eames armchair by Herman Miller USA. The fiberglass shell comes in parchment / wheat or straw yellow colour and has been produced between 1959 and 1962.
Eames fiberglass shells were first produced by Zenith, but in 1958 two new suppliers took over production: the Cincinnati Milling Machine Company in Cincinnati and the General American Transportation Corporation (GATC) in Chicago.
This shell is marked by the double triangle under the shell, which is the logo of the General American Transportation Corporation (GATC).
The shell is in nice vintage condition, no cracks or breaks, patina, very fibrous. Original X-base in original black finish, cracked paint.
