An original wall-mounted vaisselier designed for the compact kitchens of the Les Arcs 1800 residences in the French Alps.

Charlotte Perriand conceived the interiors of Les Arcs as highly functional living spaces in which architecture, furniture and everyday life formed a coherent whole. This wall-mounted storage unit combines three practical shelves with an expressive pine structure. Its sculpted side panels narrow and widen around the shelves, giving an otherwise utilitarian object a remarkably distinctive architectural profile.

Made from warm pine with contrasting white laminate shelf surfaces, the piece was designed to store crockery and kitchenware while occupying a minimum of floor space. Its generous width also allows it to function today as a wall-mounted display shelf, bookcase or open storage unit.

The model is documented in a period photograph of an Arc 1800 kitchen reproduced in Jacques Barsac’s authoritative catalogue raisonné, Charlotte Perriand: L’Œuvre complète, Volume 4, 1968–1999, page 253.

The vaisselier remains in good vintage condition, retaining a warm patina and visible traces of its original installation and use.
