Early Egg Chair and Ottoman by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, 1960s
An absolute design-icon, the Egg chair by Arne Jacobsen with it’s footstool produced in 1966.
Newly reupholstered in European Nappa leather by using the original techniques. This means manual stitching of the leather piping all around the chair and the ottoman. The high-quality leather will will acquire a nice patina over the years.
Created in 1958 together with other classics for the SAS Hotel in Copenhagen. Arne Jacobsen designed the building, the furniture, lighting and even the cutlery. The unique shape is what allows the Egg Chair to guarantee privacy (initially designated to the Lobby of the SAS Hotel). Its curved shape was quite unusual for its time. Jacobsen wanted to ensure the hotel’s interior was in complete contrast to its modernist exterior.
