The Orange Slice is one of Pierre Paulin's most recognizable early designs. Its distinctive sculptural form is created from two similarly shaped curved upholstered shells, seemingly floating above a remarkably light tubular steel structure.

This example is an early production from the 1960s, featuring the original nickel-plated tubular steel frame, characteristic of early examples and different from the brighter chrome finish found on later editions. Comparable documented early examples are likewise described as having nickel frames.

The chair has been professionally restored and completely reupholstered, including new foam. We selected a heavily textured blue and off-white fabric which complements the organic shape of the chair while giving it a fresh, contemporary appearance.

The upholstery is a durable contract-quality polyester fabric weighing 550 g/m² and rated at over 70,000 Martindale cycles, making it particularly suitable for regular seating use.

The original nickel-plated frame has intentionally been preserved and retains a subtle patina and minor traces of age and use.

A particularly attractive early example of an iconic post-war European design, restored for everyday use while retaining its original vintage frame.
