Pair of original Equator pendant lamps designed by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup, Denmark, 1968.

The Equator is one of Jo Hammerborg's distinctive late-1960s lighting designs for Danish manufacturer Fog & Mørup. Its architectural composition is formed by a series of concentric cylindrical shades, carefully positioned to conceal the light source while allowing the light to escape both downwards and between the different elements.

This pair is finished in the original vibrant blue lacquer, contrasting beautifully with the light-coloured interiors. When illuminated, the layered construction produces a particularly warm, glare-free light and emphasises the sculptural quality of the design.

Both lamps retain their original vintage finish. The blue lacquer shows scratches, small marks, areas of paint loss and traces of oxidation consistent with age and use, particularly on the upper and interior surfaces. These signs of age have deliberately been preserved rather than refinished.

A striking matching pair of Scandinavian modern pendants, equally suitable above a dining table, kitchen island or in a larger interior where the two lamps can be displayed together.
