Modernist Table Lamp by Svend Aage Holm Sorensen, Denmark 1960s
Tall Danish Mid-Century Table lamp. Design by Svend Aage Holm Sørensen, for Holm Sørensen, Denmark.
An iron structure made up of horizontal and vertical lines forms a variety of geometric shapes. These shapes create square and rectangular frames, some of them filled with elements of colored glass in shades of yellow and ochre. Base made of painted pinewood.
Svend Aage Holm Sørensen (1913-2004) was a danish designer. He is known for his self-produced lightings. He probably designed lamps for other danish manufacturers before creating his own business. Once established, his own designs were sold under the name "Holm-Sorensen & Pedersen Belysning ApS" and later "Holm Sørensen A/S".
Holm Sørensen’s style was first influenced by Modernism and even De Stijl and Bauhaus. In the 1960s, Holm Sørensen’s style changed completely. He began to work with unfinished brass and copper surfaces in typical Brutalist style, which was popular from the 1950s to the mid-70s.
