Pair of seven-arm candelabras designed by Gunnar Ander for Ystad Metall, Sweden, 1950s.

An elegant and highly decorative example of Swedish Modern design, each candelabra features seven asymmetrically arranged candle holders rising from a graphic architectural structure of black painted metal.

The slender branches terminate in tapered black candle cups finished with contrasting brass rims. Their different heights give the composition a particularly sculptural quality, while the restrained combination of black and copper is characteristic of Gunnar Ander's metalwork for Ystad Metall.

The two matching candelabras work particularly well as a pair and make striking centrepieces on a dining table, sideboard or console.

Good original vintage condition with age-related wear to the painted surfaces and a natural patina and some oxidation to the brass elements.
