Regular price €900

Pair vintage Tivoli Ceiling Lights lamps of the 1960s in copper and black finish. Manufactured by Nordisk Solar, Denmark in the 1960s.

The Tivoli lamp series was designed in 1947 by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, long before his renowned win of the architectural competition for the Sydney Opera House. At the time, Utzon also designed lamp, which was his passion, to generate additional income for his family.

The inspiration behind these lamps comes from the maritime heritage of his hometown, Copenhagen. It's easy to see how their design echoes the ships, chimneys, and bridges that lined Copenhagen's harbor during the mid-20th century.

Originally, the lamps were sold by Nordisk Solar under the name “Tivoli Pendant,” but they were later renamed “P254” to avoid copyright issues with the Tivoli Gardens amusement park in the heart of Copenhagen. Today, the Tivoli lamp, now renamed the Utzon JU1, has been reissued by the Danish company &Tradition.
