Vintage Armchair Costes by Philippe Starck, 1980s
Costes Chair by Philippe Starck in very nice state.
In 1981, Philippe Starck met Jean-Louis Costes, having already designed the interiors of La Main Bleue and Les Bains Douches. For Café Costes in Paris, he envisioned a modern cathedral-like decor, "beautiful and melancholic, like the café at Prague’s train station," featuring a grand staircase and memorable restrooms.
He also created the Costes chair, a three-legged design made of bent plywood with a handgrip hole, supported by tubular steel legs. Unlike Arne Jacobsen’s Ant chair, its single rear leg makes it easier for servers to move around.
